PARKDALE
Situated at the blunt end of a court , this elevated site has commanding views straight down the street to Port Phillip Bay and Frankston. The design of the house takes full advantage of the views , the irregular site shape and the northern orientation to the rear.
We have maximized passive thermal design ensuring winter sun and summer shade for comfort.
The plan uses cross ventilation with internal courtyards, operable windows and high level opening sky lights. The garden and pool are also supported by large rain water tanks.
The brief from the client was multi faceted. To maximize enjoyment of views the living spaces (informal and formal),covered outdoor eating with BBQ main bed room suite and study were positioned on the upper floor.
The ground level provide the owner with a large artists studio, guest suite, and two further bedrooms with bath that is separated by large sliding doors. There is a home theater rumpus room that opens to both the northern pool filled rear garden and internal court to the south.
On a lower level there is also a cellar and Gym area with borrowed light shafts to ensure natural light and ventilation.
